What's New At Joe's Place

Lake Conditions

February 4, 2010 -- So, Mr. Phil the groundhog saw his shadow and we have six more weeks of this weather...GOOD! We can use the rain. Current lake level is 43.8 feet below spillway, which is a 5 foot rise from our low point last October. Please pray for rain specific to the town of Medina all the way down to Bandera and into the lake. This is the same type of El Nino pattern that hit back in spring of 2007 when we were 38.5 feet low and the rains continued weekly putting the lake back to full before Memorial Day that year. We are praying for the same type of situation now.

For you fishermen out there, we've had a few dock fisherman the last couple of weeks. The catch is still slow, but there were some crappie, perch, a striper, and a couple of blacks caught. We look forward to seeing you die-hards this weekend, and for those less hearty, wait til the weather clears up a bit and we'll save you a place on the dock.

Looking forward to a full-lake year this season, and seeing so many of our friends that we missed last year. Bless you, and Happy Valentine's Day next week with your loved ones.

End of Year Update

December 9, 2009 -- Winter's actually here...brrrr! Not much to report on the fishing lately...guess they don't like the cold. We will be closed for the holidays December 21 through January 5. There will be no park services or dock fishing during this time, but all of our boat tenants will still have access to their boats.

Joe's Place staff and owners would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We look forward to seeing you in 2010...keep praying for rain over the recharge zone. We are currently at 46.5 feet below spillway, so it has come up about 2 feet from our summer low. Be blessed, and remember, be a blessing to others as well.

Thanksgiving Schedule

November 19, 2009 -- The holidays are almost upon us. A quick update is that the lake level as of this morning is 47.90 below spillway. We need a combined effort of prayer for rain to hit the watershed for Medina Lake! Of all the rains recently received in the surrounding areas, we've only received a few inches.

Fishing has mostly been successful for some striper and some crappie -- what's been caught has been pretty big, but the big bite hasn't started as of yet. Will keep you posted.

We will be closed November 23 through December 1 for the Thanksgiving holiday, so there will be no Friday/Saturday evening dock fishing after this weekend until December 4 & 5.

Remember your blessings and be appropriately thankful, enjoy your families, and don't eat too much...save room for some fish! Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Joe's Place.
